Mental Health and Wellbeing

Parindey prioritizes mental health and well-being through innovative initiatives and inclusive programs. We foster awareness, provide practical tools, and create safe spaces for individuals to seek help and cultivate resilience. Together, we’re breaking barriers, fostering understanding, and building a culture of compassion for mental health and well-being.

Our Mental Health & Wellbeing Programs

Community wellness sessions

At Parindey, we believe that mental health is a fundamental right, not a privilege. Our community wellness programs are designed to break down barriers to mental health support and foster a more inclusive, supportive environment for all individuals. We host a variety of workshops and seminars aimed at increasing mental health literacy and providing practical tools for managing mental well-being. Topics include mindfulness, coping strategies, self-care, and understanding mental health conditions. These events are open to the community and are designed to empower individuals with knowledge and skills. Here’s how we make a difference:

Arts and Creativity Sessions

Creativity can be a powerful tool for emotional expression and healing. Our arts and creativity sessions include workshops in visual arts, creative writing, dance, and drama. These sessions provide a therapeutic outlet for self-expression and help individuals explore and understand their emotions in a supportive, non-judgmental setting.

Music Therapy and Rhythm Workshops

Music has a profound impact on mental health and well-being. We offer music therapy sessions and rhythm workshops where participants can engage with music through playing instruments, singing, and listening. These sessions are designed to foster emotional release, improve mood, and build a sense of community through shared musical experiences.

Mindfulness and Meditation Sessions

Mindfulness and meditation are key practices for managing stress and enhancing mental well-being. Our mindfulness and meditation sessions are led by experienced instructors and include practices such as guided meditation, breathwork, and mindful movement. These sessions help participants develop greater self-awareness, reduce anxiety, and cultivate inner peace.

Community Outreach and Advocacy

We actively engage with local communities to raise awareness about mental health issues and advocate for systemic changes. Our outreach efforts include public campaigns, partnerships with local organizations, and participation in community events. We strive to challenge stigma and promote a culture of understanding and acceptance.

Guftugu

Guftugu, a comprehensive five-month endeavor aimed at fostering mental health and well-being among university students in Pakistan. The program focuses on empowering young people to address various social, economic, and psychological factors impacting their mental health. Through a series of orientations and workshops at Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU), NED University, and Mehrghar-Lyari, Guftugu engaged 128 students in becoming advocates and organizers for mental health within their communities.

The pinnacle of the program, the Guftugu Resilience Conference, held at SMIU, facilitated discussions on mental health and resilience, emphasizing the urgent need to address mental health concerns among youth. The conference featured engaging panel discussions, thrilling pitching sessions, and insightful talks by renowned figures like Sabina Khatri and Saif Samejo.

By establishing wellness clubs and providing a platform for open dialogue, Guftugu promotes early intervention mechanisms, fostering a safe space for students to express concerns and seek support, thus mitigating risks of isolation and radicalization. Founder Sonal Dhanani underscores the importance of these clubs in navigating emotional challenges effectively, steering individuals away from extremist ideologies. As Guftugu concludes its pilot phase, it leaves a lasting impact, inspiring continued dialogue, breaking stigma, and championing mental health advocacy.

Khayal

Parindey partnered with Kollage Community Impact Accelerator to run Project Khayal. Khayal was a year-long program aimed at reducing the stigma attached to mental health and providing a platform for people to express themselves freely through creative tools. With this project, the goal was to offer a space for individuals to openly discuss their mental health challenges

Parindey conducted a four-day Khayal camp for the students of Indus Schools of Knowledge, aiming to help them explore themselves, their dreams, and understand diversity through arts. Additionally, under Project Khayal, Parindey conducted a session on ‘forgiveness’ using art therapy as a medium with Street To School (STS) students. It has been a year since Parindey partnered with Kollage Community Impact Accelerator and launched the Khayal Project. Here are a few glimpses of the impact created.

Khayal was about taking care of people around us, giving a helping hand to those who were struggling, and being available to listen to those who wanted to express. It was about providing a platform for those struggling with mental health challenges and finding it difficult to express themselves.

Teacher training was conducted to integrate arts into the classroom under the Khayal project to promote well-being in teaching environments. Parindey conducted training on “Artful teaching” under the Khayal project, aiming to eradicate the stigma attached to mental health and promote healthy mental health practices in schools. Khayal aimed to raise and promote mental health awareness in Pakistan. The team healed the community by providing creative therapies and used arts and culture as their tools to serve humanity. Team Parindey partnered with Kollage Community Impact Accelerator program to conduct street theaters, parent and teacher sessions, and art therapy sessions to provide a platform and easy access to the community, helping them come out of stress.

Digital Immunity

In response to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 era, Parindey launched “Digital Immunity” to promote digital well-being and cultivate safe online environments. With generous support from the U.S. Embassy Pakistan and in collaboration with the Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network, the program aimed to equip individuals with tools and insights to navigate the digital landscape securely. Excessive reliance on technology often hinders meaningful engagement with the world, prompting the need for a digital detox to restore balance to our lives.

Through “Digital Immunity,” participants from two online cohorts explored strategies for creating safe digital spaces and countering the rising tide of online hate. Recognizing the alarming surge in digital threats, including misinformation and cybercrimes, Parindey launched animated videos to raise awareness and empower individuals to safeguard their digital identities. Recipients were urged never to share their WhatsApp codes and to fortify their digital accounts with robust passwords.

The program also offered guidance on achieving a harmonious balance between online and offline activities. Participants were encouraged to set clear boundaries, eliminate time-wasting apps, and dedicate screen-free evenings to quality time with loved ones or personal enrichment activities. Regular screen breaks and immersive walks in nature were endorsed as essential practices for rejuvenating the mind and body.

In retrospect, “Digital Immunity” served as a beacon of empowerment and resilience in an increasingly digitized world. By embracing its principles, individuals were equipped to navigate the digital realm safely and reclaim control over their digital experiences. As we reflect on the impact of “Digital Immunity,” let us remain steadfast in our commitment to prioritizing digital well-being and fostering a safer, more mindful online community. Together, let us continue to champion digital immunity and create a healthier digital future for all.

Corporate wellbeing programs

When people feel seen, they give their all. Help keep your employees happy, healthy, and productive with our assistance programs, suitable for both small and large businesses. Healthier employees, better business outcomes. Corporate well-being refers to a collection of scientifically supported workplace practices that aim to establish a healthy work environment, promote employee well-being, and improve productivity and overall organizational performance.

This program model goes beyond the traditional notion of “feel-good wellness” and instead focuses on a “results-oriented wellness” approach that brings about concrete business and health benefits.

“Attending the wellness session by Parindey was truly a refreshing experience. It reminded me how important it is to prioritize my own well-being, both mentally and physically. I feel more connected to myself and empowered to balance work and life in a healthier way. The session gave me practical tools to manage stress, improve focus, and refuel my energy, and I’m excited to integrate these practices into my daily routine.

Corporates should organize such sessions regularly because employee well-being directly impacts productivity, creativity, and overall job satisfaction. By investing in wellness programs, companies foster a healthier, more engaged workforce, reduce burnout, and create a supportive environment where employees feel valued and motivated. It’s not just about improving individual performance but building a positive culture that enhances collaboration and long-term growth.”
